Cannabis brand photography is a space like no other. It's layered, emerging, and often misunderstood. It’s both a creative challenge and a cultural responsibility—and it’s exactly where we’ve found ourselves called to lately.

At Honey & Sage, photography has always been about more than the frame. It’s about what’s behind it—the energy, the story, the feeling. As we continue to evolve as artists and visual storytellers, cannabis brand photography has become a natural extension of what we do and believe in.

We're not newcomers to the cannabis world. One of our co-founders, Joe, brings years of firsthand experience in the industry—working with national brands, navigating compliance-heavy markets, and advocating for a more thoughtful, accessible future for cannabis. Pairing that background with our photography work has felt less like a shift and more like a merging of two deeply rooted parts of our lives.

Why Cannabis Photography Is Different

Photographing cannabis isn’t the same as shooting a product line or a lifestyle brand. There’s nuance, regulation, and narrative all tangled up in every shot. The plant is beautiful, but it’s also political. It’s something people love, rely on, and in many cases—still fight to access safely.

Because of that, cannabis branding requires more than good lighting. It asks for care. Intention. And a clear understanding of the space—something we bring to the table, not just as photographers, but as people who have lived and worked in cannabis spaces for years.

Many creatives shy away from this industry. We lean in.

We know how important it is to shift the perception of cannabis. And we believe that compelling, honest, elevated visuals play a big role in that.

Merging Our Worlds: Art and Advocacy

As we expand further into cannabis brand photography, we’re doing so with purpose. This isn’t a trend for us—it’s a passion. It's the convergence of Joe’s background in cannabis with our shared vision of storytelling through imagery.

We're drawn to brands that want more than just a pretty product photo. The ones that want to show their heart, their people, their roots. We aim to create content that’s authentic, artistic, and aligned—not only with your brand identity, but with your values and the culture cannabis comes from.

Whether it’s stylized pre-rolls, behind-the-scenes cultivation, lifestyle campaigns, or on-location content for dispensary launches, we’re excited to partner with brands who see cannabis not just as a commodity, but as a culture.

And while cannabis photography is still a newer part of our official Honey & Sage portfolio, it’s been years in the making behind the scenes.

Why This Work Matters to Us

We care deeply about the normalization of cannabis. Not just the aesthetic of it—but the human side. The history. The healing. The way it fits into people’s lives as medicine, as ritual, and as community.

We believe this work can help rewrite the visual language around the plant. It can elevate brands doing it right. It can help legacy operators show up with pride, and help new brands enter the space with credibility and care.

At Honey & Sage, we see cannabis photography as part art, part advocacy—and we’re honored to be doing more of it with each passing month.

Greener Days Ahead

As we take on more cannabis brand shoots across Massachusetts, the East Coast, and beyond, we’re continuing to invest in the things that matter: real relationships, smart creative direction, and meaningful imagery that resonates.

We’re not here to slap a filter on a nug and call it a day. We’re here to build something lasting with our clients. Something elevated, intentional, and undeniably human.

If you're a cannabis brand looking for thoughtful, strategic photography that honors both the plant and your vision—Honey & Sage is ready to collaborate. Whether you’re just launching or evolving your presence, we’d love to help tell your story, one frame at a time.

Let’s create something with depth.
